| check out the new google maps w/ street views. that really ticks off a lot of concerns i have had about technology leading to pervasive surveillance and associated bad stuff. in terms of technology i think it's a great achievement. but i think the google dudes have stepped over the bounds this time .... where are all the non-govt. privacy advocate groups?!?!?
the future is here much sooner than we realize, and i fear much sooner than we are ready to cope. on the good side, we've never been ready to cope with anything, and we've done fine. at the very least, knowing that we are not ready is a small step, is it not?
where is the conscience of the next generation of engineers? where would we lead the rest of society if our passion for innovation is not tempered by appreciation of a broader perspective beyond technology?
there may be a time when i have no privacy beyond knowing what i would think about next ... all ya pre-med people ... y'all know brain scans to detect emotions is no longer so sci-fi ... who's to say we can't read other's thoughts?
we need telepathy ... and teleportation ... yea ... those solve all problems ...
